ChemChats are monthly open roundtable discussions on Zoom facilitated by NEACT. ChemChats are aimed at high school and college chemistry teachers but are open to all STEM teachers. Come to share ideas, come to ask questions, or just come for the collegiality.
Our topic for this afternoon is "Teaching about Acids and Bases". Whether you are teaching AP Chem, general college chem or a heterogeneous high school course, acids and bases can be tough to wrap your head around. How much should you include? How can we help our students mastery the subtleties of weak acid interactions? What are good ways to bring in real world connections? Come to ask questions, come to share ideas, or come for the collegiality. I will post a recording of the Chat, and materials you wish to share can be put in this google drive folder.
ChemChats are hosted by Sue Klemmer. I am ZOOMING from the coast of Maine, so times are always stated as east coast time. We run 4:00-5:00 pm EST.
ChemChats generally run the 2nd Thursday of each month from September through June. The April 2025 ChemChat will be run on April 10th and the topic will be "Assisting Multi-Language Learners in an Inclusive Chemistry Classroom". Got a topic you'd like to talk about? for April or May Email me at sue.klemmer@fivetowns.net.
