The New England Association of Chemistry Teachers will be hosting the 2025 annual summer conference, which will be held in person at Providence College (Providence, RI) August 4-6, 2025.
The 2025 conference theme is "Connecting Chemistry to the Real World!" This conference will explore the real world applications of chemistry, with a particular emphasis on how chemistry concepts can be taught with assistance of artificial intelligence, and experiments that connect real world applications, including nutrition and sustainability.
This year's keynote speaker will be Dr. Kimberly Arcand who will be presenting on "Chemistry and the Cosmos". Dr. Arcand is a visualization scientist with a background in molecular biology who now leads innovation in data visualization, 3D imaging, and extended reality for NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory. Her work bridges the physical sciences—from atoms to galaxies—using cutting-edge techniques like sonification and machine learning to make complex data more accessible and engaging.
Learn more about Kim at her website. We are looking forward to her presentation!
We are currently accepting presentations on any aspect of chemistry research and chemistry education. We invite educators, scientists, chemistry education researchers, environmental scientists, forensics scientists, nutritionists, and AI innovators to submit proposals for sessions that engage participants in innovative ways for teaching chemistry through real-world applications.
Use this link to submit your proposals online by May 28, 2025.
Conference registration is now open. To see the full registration options, you need to be logged in to your account! The early bird full conference discount is available through 5/30. Scroll down to the "register" button and all the registration packages will become visible after you open that page. NEACT membership is required to register. Not a member? Join today!
Apply for a 2025 Summer Conference Scholarship
Scholarships are available to attend the 2025 NEACT Summer Conference. New chemistry teachers and first time attendees will be given preference, but all those who apply will be given consideration. These scholarships will cover at least half of the registration costs of attending the conference. If you are interested in applying for the scholarship, please complete this application (the link will force a copy) and submit the form to Kathy Siok. We thank the Northeastern and Rhode Island Sections of the American Chemical Society and the Biennial NEACT Scholarship for their support of NEACT.
